Cache Open Space Advisory Committee

The Cache Open Space Advisory Committee (COSAC) was established after voters approved $20 Million in open space land preservation funds in 2022.  The open space bond is available for Cache County landowners, creating a unique opportunity for property owners and organizations to participate in preserving what makes Cache County great. The county plans to use the funds to preserve open space and create trail corridors. Grants may be awarded to projects that protect scenic vistas, preserve open lands near valley gateways, add trails and trail connectivity, and maintain agriculture, waterways and wildlife habitat.

Open space preservation funds can be used to purchase conservation easements, trail easements, or property ownership for open space preservation or trail additions. Interested parties are encouraged to apply by submitting an application (see below) to the Cache County Development Services office. The process is competitive and the Cache Open Space Advisory Committee will review and score each application, with the Cache County Council deciding final awards and amounts.

Cache County invites all property owners who wish to preserve their open space or organizations interested in adding to Cache County’s trail network to apply. The application process is open-ended with no specific deadline, and each application will be reviewed in the order of submission, ensuring a fair and transparent process. Participation in the program is voluntary and properties proposed by
willing land-owners will be considered.
