Victim Services
The Cache County Attorney's Victim Services Division is a critical part of the justice system, dedicated to supporting individuals who have experience crimes and the trauma that comes along. This division offers a range of services aimed at helping victims navigate the aftermath of a criminal event. Our services often include providing emotional support through the court process, heling victims understand their rights, assisting with safety planning, and connecting them to community resources.
Victims’ rights in Utah include:
- The right to privacy
- The right to be heard at sentencing
- The right to be informed of court dates and case updates
- The right to give input to any resolution or plea negotiation
- The right to request restitution and reparations for any losses incurred
- The right to be present for all important hearings
- The right to be treated with dignity, respect, courtesy and sensitivity
- The right to an explanation as to legal proceedings and plea negotiations
For victims of personal crimes who are cooperative with investigation and prosecution, some resources are available to pay for therapy, loss of work, medical expenses, moving expenses, and other financial impacts to an individual or family. These resources are available through the Crime Victim Reparations, which is funded through fees paid by criminal defendants in court.
